SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring safety of all swimmers in the pool to include water safety, first aid, CPR (AED), and life guard instructor training; assists Activity/Transportation Director with supervising the life guards on duty; cleans, adjusts, and performs minor repairs and maintenance to swimming pool and auxiliary equipment by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING. Other duties may be assigned. *Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
- Cautions swimmers regarding safety issues and monitors life guards.
- Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.
- Maintains order in swimming area.
- Inspects facilities for cleanliness, oversees maintenance, and submits work orders.
- Informs supervisor of any problems or safety concerns.
- Instructs swimming classes and assists Physical Education teacher with classes and locker room supervision during the school year.
- Instructs swimming lessons in the summer for the public.
- Assists the Activities/Transportation Director with the supervision of lifeguards.
- Must be a Certified Pool Operator through the State of Montana. Understands pool chemistry and is able to test the pool chemicals and balance according to the state specifications and records all data.
- Understands the mechanics of the pool and is able to calibrate the Chemtrol Computer Program.
- Maintains cleanliness of the following areas: laundry room, lobby, two locker rooms, two lobby bathrooms, control room, two custodial closets, balcony, stairs and the office.
- Orders chemicals and safety equipment for the pool with the approval of the Activities/Transportation Director.
- Switches acid drums in the pool when empty.
- Vacuums pool cleans filter basket, and any other duties related to keeping the pool in running order.
- Washes towels, answers the phone, and performs odd jobs that need to be done.
- Locks and maintains security of building.
- Keeps patrons informed of the Center/Pool schedules.
- Writes yearly maintenance reports to track maintenance work completed and track preventative maintenance schedules.
- Writes incidents reports and submits to the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Activities/Transportation Director is the main supervisor. This position assists with supervision of the lifeguards by training, scheduling and monitoring lifeguards.QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the general public.
